Thermal ageing of soft and hard epoxy resins

Two kinds of epoxy resin, a soft one with rubber-based additives and an ordinary hard one, are used as electrical insulators airtight sealants in penetrations nuclear power plants (NPPs). Knowing how they behave under adverse environments is important for the safe operation NPPs. In this regard, we gave artificial thermal ageing treatment to two resins by heating them air at various temperatures. The were then subjected mechanical, thermal, dielectric tests. As result, it has become clear that resin becomes hard, while its permittivity loss factor decrease longer. glass transition tends occur high temperature when was heated. With these changes, exhibit similar behaviour properties unaged one. On other hand, hardly affected simulated ageing. Therefore, both can be useable
